Before the ADOPT-HF project began, researchers recognized the need for better management of heart failure for patients in the United States, along with the unique challenges faced by patients and healthcare providers in rural areas. A multidisciplinary team, led by scientists at the University of Washington and the University of Idaho, surveyed and interviewed healthcare providers and patients with heart conditions to understand their preferences and perspectives about managing heart failure.
